Using PowerShell to Connect with Raspberry Pi II

It took me 20 minutes to start running windows 10 on my IoT Device Raspberry Pi II. I have followed the instructions from Microsoft website (http://ms-iot.github.io/content/win10/SetupRPI.htm) and its bang on.

  1. Raspberry Pi II
  2. Old Samsung Phone Charger
  3. HDMI Cable
  4. Ethernet Cable
  5. Windows 10 (I’m running my surface on windows 10)
  6. PowerShell V 5.0

Quick overview of the steps I have followed

  1. Download the IoT image from insider programme
    diskpart
    list disk
    exit
    # Get the output from above and replace with Highlighted N in below command

    dism.exe /Apply-Image /ImageFile:flash.ffu /ApplyDrive:\\.\PhysicalDriveN /SkipPlatformCheck

  2. Connect to the Pi II to the power source, After few reboots you can see the below screen.

Now, I have run the below command in powershell administrator mode to get connected.

    net start WinRM
    Set-Item WSMan:\localhost\Client\TrustedHosts -Value 192.168.0.21
    Enter-PsSession -ComputerName 192.168.0.21 -Credential 192.168.0.21\Administrator

Note: Replace the Ip address with your one shown in the screen.

    4.   I have changed the computer name for my convenience by issuing following commands

    setcomputername dimanipi
    shutdown /r /t 0

Now, we are ready to get started writing application for IoT devices using windows 10, visual studio and .Net.Watch this space for more about IoT device Raspberry Pi II Developments.
